August 2020 Release Notes
We are excited to reveal Uprise release notes for the EHR. On top of a many feature enhancements, we’ve addressed some bugs that may have impacted your practice.
- We have simplified the way you enter Visual Acuties by adding one button to populate data.
You are now able to enter a keratometry diopter value up to 60 and not receive a validation warning.
You can now set the exam section order to align with your workflow so that you do not have to jump up and down across the exam. How to Set Exam Section Order
The slider bar range for Sphere and Cylinder fields has been updated to be 0 to 12.
In Binocular Vision, the test NPA range has been updated to be 80cm for OD/OS/OU.
You are now able to document free text medication notes as well as pull in medications added under the PFSH questionnaire.
You can now upload a provider signature to the printed Prescription. How to setup a Provider Signature
All refraction types now show the date so you are able to get context for when the prescription was documented.
Now, when copying a Presenting refraction to a Manifest refraction the visual acuitities or usage do not copy over because these values may be different across prescriptions.
When entering a Final refraction you can now add "Optician/Staff Notes". These notes will send over to the Rx Order for staff to read. These notes do not show on the patient prescription.
When entering a contact lens axis on a refraction, you will not be able to select a configuration that is not in your existing product catalog.
When copying a CL Prescription from the right eye to the left eye, the existing prescription will not be overridden.
You will now see +/- indicators on the "Over Refractions" slider for CL refractions.
We have added a new list under Admin>Lists for "CL Disinfection". The list is populated with Industry standard values. This list can be updated.
- You will now see four assessments (A,B,C,D) in the coding area of the exam.
- You can now use extensions with the following CPT codes: S9986, 92250, 92015, 66999, 92004, 92014. These are in addition to the codes that already support extensions: 92310, 92499, 99499. How to Add Extensions to CPT codes
- We added new modifiers to the EHR and PM:
- GC This service has been performed in part by a resident under the direction of a teaching physician
- GE This service has been performed by a resident without the presence of a teaching physician under the primary care exception
- SC Medically necessary service or supply
- UJ Services provided at night
- AQ Service performed in a Health Professional Shortage Area
- AR Physician providing services in a physician scarcity area
When the following codes are populated in an exam 992XX, 99441, 99442, 99443, 99421, 99422, 99423, the exam will autolink the first 4 medical ICDs from the assessment section to the coding section.
There is a new option under Configure> Exam Configurations called 'Non-Billable Codes'. The following are default codes, but others can be added:
- E66.3 Overweight
- R63.6 Underweight
- E78.2 Mixed hyperlipidemia
- E78.5 Hyperlipidemia, unspecified
- E78.49 Other hyperlipidemia
- I10 Essential (primary) hypertension
- R03.0 Elevated blood pressure reading, without diagnosis of hypertension
- R03.1 Nonspecific low blood-pressure reading
Now, only 12 diagnosis will populate from an exam to an invoice to avoid claims from being rejected.
We have updated the ability to reorder ICD-10 codes under the Assessment/Plan.
- We added a "Non Billable" area under Assessment/Plan to separate out ICD-10 codes that are just findings or inactive diagnosis. These codes do not transfer over to the Invoice. How to add "Non Billable" ICD10 Codes
A variety of updates have been made to the Printed Exam including:
- Condensing the assessment information.
- Your logo will now display on the Exam Printout.
- The provider signature now shows on the Exam Printout.
You now have the ability to show and review 'Normal Findings' under the Physical Exam without having to open the findings window. How to review 'Normal Findings' under Physical Exam

- When printing all Rx Prescriptions, you will no longer print CL Trials in the printout.
- Disinfecting Solution and Lubricant/Rewetting fields will now transfer from the EHR to the PM Rx Order.
- We fixed an issue that caused some Logo images to not be able to upload under the Admin tab.
- We have fixed the logic in the Physical Exam so it will no longer display "Physical Exam is not preformed" if it actually has been preformed.
- If you add notes to the Configure>Chief Complaint Categories, they will now show up in the Chief complaint/HPI section of the exam.
