Integrating Optical Devices with Uprise Device Connect

With the new Uprise Device Connect feature, users are now able to integrate optical devices directly within an Uprise site.

Before attempting to integrate with Uprise Device Connect, make sure the following setup items are complete. You may require the assistance of a designated support representative from your device's manufacturer. Only after these items are completed will you be able to integrate devices within your Uprise site:

  • Ensure that the device is fully installed and operational at your practice location
  • Configure the device to export data as either .XML or .CSV files, as these are the only file types that can be read by Uprise Device Connect
  • Designate a specified folder location on your PC or an equivalent mapped drive on your Local Area Network (LAN) to receive data when it is exported to your PC
  • Ensure that your Uprise profile user permissions includes "Access Device Integrations"

Step 1: Navigate to Admin > Device Integrations

Uprise - Google Chrome

Step 2: On the right-hand side of the screen, click "Install" to download the Device Connect program

Step 3: Once the download is complete, open the Device Connect software, accept the License Agreement, and click "Install" to run the Device Connect setup wizard

Step 4: Follow the prompts as directed in the Device Connect setup wizard program

Step 4.1: Click "Login" to authenticate your Uprise user account.

The login credentials are the same username and password you use to log into your Uprise site. Click "login now" when ready to be taken to the Computer selection menu.

Step 4.2: If you are creating a brand new integration for your site, you'll need to Create a new computer for your list. Click "Create new computer" to enter a name for your PC and select your Uprise location, then click "Next."

If you have already set up a computer for your practice, you can select "Connect as an existing computer" and choose your PC from the drop-down menu,  then click "Next" to proceed to step 4.3

Or, if you already have a preexisting integration using the Uprise Device Listener app, you can select "Migrate from an old version", then choose your currently-integrated device and installation name from the "select an installation" drop-down menu. Enter a name for the new Device Connect integration in the "Enter name" field, then click "Next" to proceed to step 4.3

Step 4.3: Click "Add New Device" and use the accompanying drop-down menus for type, manufacturer, and model to add an optical device to your integration list.

NOTE: These fields can be selected in any order. Selecting "manufacturer" first will help you narrow the choices available in the "type" and "model" lists to options that are relevant to that device' maker.

Step 4.4: Click "Select path..." to open Windows File Explorer, then select the designated output file location that was set up to receive that device's exported data.

You will now see the Device Type, Manufacturer, Model, and Output Path information that you selected in your Device List. Repeat step 4.4 as required for any additional devices, then click "Finish."

Step 4.5: You will see a "Success!" screen indicating that the integration for your selected devices is complete. Click "go to home" to be returned to the Device Connect app home menu.

Step 5: View your list of completed integrations in the Device Connect app home menu

Status toggles can now be used to deactivate/reactivate an existing integration at will, and the trash can icon can be used to remove an existing computer and its accompanying integrations from your list as desired.

The Uprise Device Connect app will now remain running in the background on your PC, even if you close this program menu. The menu can be reopened at any time by selecting Device Connect from your Apps list using Windows' normal search menus.

Step 6: Return to Admin > Device Integrations in your Uprise site at any time to review the lists of your practice computers and integrated devices

Status toggles and your computer list can also be managed directly within your Uprise site without reopening the Device Connect app menu.
