Composing a Medication Prescription
A medication can be created from either the Orders section of the Exam or from the Alergies/MedsTab in the EHR
1. From the Exam
- Scroll to the Orders section of the Exam
- Click the plus sign "+"
- Select Rx Medications
2. From the EHR
- Select Allergies/Meds tab
- Select Current Medications filter button
- Click E-Prescribing button

3. E-Prescribing window opens to the Current Rx Tab > Search for Medications
- Type a few letters of the medication or the entire name
- Click Drug Search button

4. Drug Search Results will display > click the medication button > or click Show Brands
Show brands will provide alternative medications and generic medication for the drug

5. The Pending Rx window opens. There are three sections:
6. Click Save Rx button. If there are any conflicts or incorrect dosage, etc. you will be informed
Note: This is called Clinical Decision Support
7. The Rx is added to the Pending Rx list
The Rx is not yet transmitted. The next article will review the sending process
